LFW | Ashley Isham AW 13
Last season we saw flowers, bright colours and maximum glamour at Ashley Isham. This season he gave us the exact opposite of that. His collection was dark and edgy, with a certain bondage feel to it brought home by the amazing latex boots his models showed off. The Singapore born designer gave us his signature razor-sharp tailoring and stunning evening wear. Fabulous coats and floral prints made up the first half of the collection, held in khaki, black, navy, white and beige with hints of red in certain pieces. The splashes of colour were strategically placed and really tied his daywear together nicely. The later half of the show was made up of stunning evening gowns, very much what the Ashley Isham customer wants and what has gained him the following he has. The use of cream, champagne and a dark purple for the eveningwear meant that we saw some breathtakingly beautiful pieces. While Isham does to great daywear pieces, it is the long, polished and embellished dresses and get me truly excited. The dark visor that Isham used on his models throughout the collection and these glamorous gowns made for a very interesting juxtaposition. This season Isham has certainly pushed the boundaries and has taken his customer away from his roots into a more sexual side. He did remain true to himself in the cuts and eveningwear, striking a balance between growth and remaining true to himself.
